2026 Can Am Defender HD 11 models , 0-4000’ elevation 33-34” (and some 32") tires*, adjustable kit.
Improved performance for these tire sizes. The 2026 Can Am Defender HD11 comes from the factory with a new engine and clutches compared to previous models. This kit offers a new calibration of CVT components in both clutches to control upshift and improve belt grip and overall performance. The kit offers a smoother, more positive engagement of the belt. With the kit installed the vehicle will get into a better RPM zone and do so more quickly. This results in better acceleration, better efficiency, and improved “back shifting of the belt” when the vehicle senses load from soft terrain or hills, etc. Back shifting the belt quickly when load increases is a key to better efficiency and belt grip. The kit offers a balance of smooth initial engagement and improved performance but maintains a nice midrange cruising RPM.
The flyweight lever arms in our kit are a different roller curve profile, distribution of mass and design, and thus the “total grams” are irrelevant when comparing to stock or others. This whole package is designed to work together for a noticeable improvement in throttle response and acceleration compared to stock clutches in this situation. The kit is adjustable for different tires and situations. The instructions tell you how to set up accordingly.
Larger or heavier tires in particular hurt performance everywhere. Rotating weight and the added gearing from larger diameter tires hurt acceleration and top speed. This kit improves bottom end and belt performance without loss of top speed, in fact acceleration is quicker to get to top speed. A better clutch calibration for controlling “rate of shift of the belt” for these tire sizes.
*Note- This kit can also be used with 32” tires for high loads situations, It should also be noted that 34”and larger tires are getting outside the envelope for factory gearing and should really be used with gear reduction for heavy use, but we know that many choose to use these tire sizes for trail riding. As long as you use low range when you should at low speeds, this kit will be better performance than stock clutching with those tires. (If using gear reduction, portals, etc. the regular DBHD 11-1 kit would often be used based on the % reduction used).

Frequently asked question:- What if I use track systems in the winter, or change to smaller tires ?
Answer:- Track systems are geared down on their own. You treat tracks more like stock or smaller tire sizes. If you run track systems or small tires seasonally it would have the wrong clutch calibration if you leave it set for the larger tires. It may have higher cruise rpm and lose speed, etc if running big tire clutching with small tires or tracks. It may depend on how frequent you do it and your own priorities of what you do most often with the vehicle as to whether you should change to proper clutching for the occasional application.
